W2CW Announces its Second Cohort of Cyber Security Students

March 5, 2013 - Lunarline, a cyber security company, and Echo360, the leader in active learning and lecture capture solutions, together announced the start of the second cohort of Warrior to Cyber Warrior (W2CW) students. The non-profit organization provides career training that links America’s returning Veterans and Wounded Warriors to employers in need of qualified cyber security professionals through training and career placement. The W2CW program is a six-month, tuition-free cyber security training and certification program that gives Veterans and wounded service members the skills needed to transition from the military to a career as a cyber security professional.

The W2CW program is excited to expand the second cohort size by more than twofold to twenty-five Veterans from all branches of the military, the Wounded Warrior program and the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Care Coalition. W2CW second cohort student, and United States Marine Corps and Army Veteran Matthew Cornine, is excited to “receive training on IT Security that will increase my knowledge and strengthen my technical skills.” The program incorporates an NSA/CNSS certified training curriculum with a dedicated online community offering individualized mentoring, coaching and peer support to each Veteran student.

“The cyber threat to our country is real and pressing,” said General (Ret.) George W. Casey Jr, former Chief of Staff, United States Army. He recently spoke to the students on the importance of being a part of this program. The Veterans will be “back on the front lines again, but this time shaping the security and business environments of the 21st century,” according to Gen. Casey. The graduates of the W2CW program will be ready to begin a new cyber security career in what is one of the largest growing industries.
